Box Office Report: Alia Bhatt-Varun Dhawan's Badrinath Ki Dulhania becomes the 3rd biggest opener of 2017
Badrinath Ki Dulhania did a great business over the weekend at the box-office.
Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania released during the Holi weekend and indeed it had a colourful weekend. The movie was applauded by critics and fans on social media too.
On Friday (March 10), the movie earned about INR 12 crore, whereas it made around INR 14.25 crore on Saturday. The film made a collection of about INR 15.75 crore on Sunday, making it a total of INR 42 crore approx at the box office.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania made a record of the third best weekend of 2017 after Raees - INR 59.48 crore and Jolly LLB 2 - INR 47.59 crore.
Now, we have to wait and see how it fares today (Monday) as it's the main festival of Holi.
The fan base of Alia and Varun and also the success of the first film from the franchise, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania have totally helped the film in minting money at the box office.
Coming to the overseas market, the film has become the biggest opener for Varun Dhawan worldwide. BKD has made collections of about $2.50 million approx that is, INR 75 crore beating his former movie ABCD's business which was approx INR 72 crore.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania is directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar's home banner Dharma Productions. The film is a twisted love story between Badri and Vaidehi played by Varun and Alia respectively.
The trailer and songs of the film became an instant hit among the masses and created a huge rage on social media.
