Box Office Report: Rustom remains steady on Day 2; Mohenjo Daro shows growth
One would've hoped that both releases from Friday - Mohenjo Daro and Rustom - would benefit from the long weekend. Though the latter had a better start, it seems the former is beginning to pick up momentum.
After a phenomenal 14 crore opening day number, the Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom stayed rock steady on day 2; Faring well in circuits like Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Punjab. These territories saw a growth of over 20%. The film's occupancy was in the range 70-75% at major multiplexes in important sectors. Considering, it is a national holiday on Monday, a growth of 30-40% is expected. On Saturday (Day 2), the film collected INR 16.25 crores, bringing its total earning to INR 30.25 crore.
On the other hand, Mohenjo Daro managed to show some growth on Saturday. After a slow beginning at the box office, the numbers picked pace on Day 2. Though it remained relatively lower than Rustom, a few circuits showed promise. After collecting INR 8.75 crore on Friday (Day 1) and INR 9.75 crore on Saturday (Day 2), the film's total earning rests at INR 18.50 crore. Considering Sunday is a holiday, the film could possibly show more upward growth in numbers on its Day 3 at the domestic box office.
