BLACKPINK's Rosé sets a new record with a staggering 24 hour debut on YouTube for On The Ground
YouTube stated that Rosé’s On the Ground MV garnered 41.6 million views in the first 24 hours after it was released on March 12 at 2 pm.
It seems like BLACKPINK's Rosé is determined to make 2021 her year! Rosé debuted her much-awaited solo album, R, with its lead title track On The Ground. The all English song depicts a message of self-reflection and self-love. The lyrics describe a star who has devoted her life to be at the top of her game, but eventually, she realizes that a person's worth is always determined by one's inner character and how one should accept themselves for who one is. The track opened to a thunderous response from BLINKS across the world.
On March 16, According to a report by Sports Dong-A, YouTube stated that Rosé’s On The Ground's music video garnered 41.6 million views in the first 24 hours after it was released on March 12 at 2 pm KST. With this, Rosé has officially broken the record for K-pop soloists set by PSY in 2013 with Gentleman. PSY's Gentleman garnered 36 million views on YouTube and remained unbeaten for 8 years!
Also, On The Ground achieved the most viewers on a solo artist’s music video for a YouTube Premiere with a whopping 1.2 million viewers on the MV’s premiere! Previously, YG Entertainment shared that Rosé’s title track On The Ground debuted at No. 8 on Spotify’s daily Global Top 50 chart for March 12 (local time) with 3,262,615 streams in the first 24 hours since its release.
Meanwhile, Rosé is all set to become the first K-pop soloist to perform on Jimmy Fallon's late-night talk show, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. The episode airs on March 16, PT. Congratulations to Rosé.
