BLACKPINK and Kingdom’s writer Kim Eun Hee featured in Variety’s Most Impactful Women in Global Entertainment
Variety published a list of women with the greatest influence in the entertainment industry; Kim Eun Hee and BLACKPINK join an incredible lineup.
In celebration of women’s achievements around the world, Variety published a list of 54 women they consider made a great impact in their respective categories in the entertainment industry. Among the many amazing women, only the insanely famous Kpop girl group BLACKPINK and the writer of Signal and Kingdom, Kim Eun Hee feature the list from South Korea.
The feature holds more importance as the world had basically stopped due to the pandemic. But not the women and their achievements. Variety introduces Kim Eun Hee as the writer who “created Netflix hit series ‘Kingdom’, into which she folded two hot genres - historical drama and zombie action thriller.” As for the global superstar girl group BLACKPINK, it introduces them as “K-pop titans”, stating how “the past year has seen them cement their superstardom - in a lockdown year.”
Talking about the two women being nation’s pride, Kim Eun Hee has written the popular and intense dramas titled Signal and Kingdom. Signal Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger and Season 2’s production was supposed to start in 2020. However, that’s now stopped due to the pandemic. The same stands true for Kingdom Season 3. They both could probably release in the end of 2021 (considering filming starts) or 2022. But according to Variety, Eun Hee is currently working on Ashin of the North - a special episode/mini movie that shows the backstory of Ashin - an important character introduced in the finale episode of Season 2 of Kingdom.
On the other hand, BLACKPINK’s Rosé has announced a solo track titled ‘On The Ground’ from her first solo debut album titled ‘R’. Variety also listed their achievements of topping the iTunes chart in 57 territories and their How You Like That music video setting the record for the most number of views for a video in 24 hours - with a whopping 86.3 million views.
