Billboard names BTS as The Greatest Pop Star of 2020; Previous title holders include Madonna & Michael Jackson
BTS is Billboard's Greatest Pop Star' of 2020 in Star-Studded list stretching back to the year 1981.
BTS have done it again! The legendary septet has added another feather to their cap of achievements with the title 'The Greatest Pop Star of 2020', as declared by Billboard. BTS joins the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson in this coveted list of achievers. Honestly, at this point, only lyrics from their smash hit track, Dynamite, can sum up this historic and iconic achievement. "I'm diamond, you know I glow up."
The American Publication named BTS as “The Greatest Pop Star of 2020,” continuing its tradition of designating an artist that shone especially bright for each year. The star-studded list dates all the way back to the year 1981 and includes artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Nirvana, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Eminem, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Adele, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Drake, and Ariana Grande. Billboard especially highlighted BTS’ many historic achievements in the pandemic-induced year 2020, which included the septet's first Grammy Awards nomination (for their smash hit Dynamite, which was the first song by an all-Korean group to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100). BTS also made history on the Billboard charts when their latest title track Life Goes On debuting at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 rankings, making it the Korean song to achieve this feat.
The superstar group are the only Korean group to perform at the Grammy’s and be nominated for one too. They have certainly been pioneers of change and have become world-renowned global icons with their music and philanthropic activities. BTS is all set to take solo stage at the 63rd Grammy Awards on March 14.
