BCCI criticized for tweet after India's win over Afghanistan in World Cup 2019
India barely managed to get over the line against Afghanistan on Saturday in the ICC Cricket World Cup.
The Board of Control for Bricket in India (BCCI) was criticized on Twitter after a tweet from thir official account stated that Team India had 'thumped' Afghanistan in their win on Saturday. The Virat Kohli-led team survived a scare and barely managed to cross the line in a tense 11-run win, even as Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan kept the Afghans in the hunt.
After restricting India to only 224 runs - India's lowest while batting first since April 2015 - the Afghans took the chase to the final over, with Nabi almost pulling it off for the team. However, a Mohammed Shami hattrick meant that the underdogs were defeated by 11 runs.
The official BCCI account took to twitter to post, ""And we march on - #TeamIndia thump Afghanistan by 11 runs".
The tweet was criticized massively, following which it was deleted. A new post was later added.
