Australia vs New Zealand, ICC World Cup 2019: Match prediction
Australia have the edge in this game, but only slighlty
It is going to be an interesting battle between the two Trans-Tasman rivals in the second game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Both teams have similar strengths and weaknesses, which further makes it tough to decide who the winners will be.
New ball bowlers Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry will have to be at their unerring best against Australia, as they take on the opening duo of Aaron Finch and David Warner - the two best batsmen in the edition by far. They have been aggressive, and send any ball that is wide and short into the boundary ropes.
On the other hand, the Australian fast bolwers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins will fancy their chances against an inconsistent opening duo of Martin Guptill and Colin Munro. The Kiwi openers have not neen able to fare as well, but in Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor, the New Zealand team has two of the strongest batters. However, if the Aussies can find a way to send them back early, they will have the upper hand. The middle order from New Zealand has not looked convincing, and this could be the decisive factor.
Hence, due to the strength in the middle order, it is Australia who are the favourites.
