After hilarious offer to Ambati Rayudu, Iceland Cricket gets visa requests from Indian fans
Iceland Cricket had hilariously asked Ambati Rayudu to play cricket for them, but what they did not realize was that Indians would soon be flooding them with requests for visas to play cricket for Iceland
A day after Iceland cricket made a hilarious offer to Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu to take up Permanent Residency and play cricket for Iceland, the body's mail box has been flooded with visa requests from Indians.
The newly-retired player was overlooked twice for a World Cup spot despite injuries to Vijay Shankar and Shikhar Dhawan. Despite being named as a standyby, he was not called up, as the selectors opted for Rishbah Pant to replace Dhawan, and Mayank Agarwal to replace Shankar.
Rayudu had initially criticized the selectors for not picking him in India's squad that travelled to England.
Iceland Cricket, on Wednesday, had tweeted to him, saying that Agarwal has only three professional wickets at an average of 72.33, and that Rayudu could play for them instead. They also sent him an application form for permanent residency in Iceland.
However, what the board did not realize was this hilarious tweet would be taken seriously by Indians, who flooded them with requests for visas to play cricket for Iceland. Instead, in a tongue-and-cheek fashion, they asked the fans to play for England, as "they'll take anyone."
