Afghanistan's rise in cricket is a story for the ages. From being a Taliban-ruled state to now being one of the ten nations to play in the World Cup 2019, their journey has been an inspiring one. They have put in great performances in this edition but have been unable to register a single win. They came close once again against Pakistan, but heart-wrenchingly lost the game in the last over.

Batting first, the Afghans scored 227 runs in their 50 overs, with Shaheen Afridi picking up 4 wickets. The Pakistanis, on the other hand, lost regular wickets and were 81 for 3 at one stage. The duo of Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman stalled the run flow, but just when one thought that the match was sealed, Imad Wasim from Pakistan scored a vital knock to help them go fourth in the points table. It left the Afghan players teary-eyed.

Here is how Twitter reacted to their loss.
