Let’s dive into it then!
On The Ground - BLACKPINK’s Rosé
First off the list is the latest solo debut song by Rosé. How can we possibly not include it? The perfect summer song that is nostalgic with soft guitar strings in the background, an electric chorus, and amazing vocals by Rosé. Cherry on the top? It’s all in English. The moment you hear it, it takes you to a different place altogether. Pandemic, summer, time - nothing matters. Just her vocals and the emotions they evoke, do.
Magnetic - RAIN ft. Jackson Wang
What’s summer without reminiscing about our first loves, or falling in love or being in love? The KPop legend RAIN’s latest collaboration with Jackson Wang named Magnetic was awaited by many fans. And it did not disappoint. Half English-half Korean, the song puts the airy vocals of RAIN and the deep, clear vocals of Jackson in the center. Talking about giving love a chance and how the significant other can be “magnetic”, this peppy song will definitely make you try at least one body wave.
Love So Fine - ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo
One of the most popular KDrama OSTs, Love So Fine will remind you of the old school days when you went out to school picnics with your crush and hoped they would smile at you for once at least. With another addictive chorus, it flawlessly fits the feelings of warm summer, giving the listeners all warm feelings. In addition to it, we have Cha Eun Woo’s marvelous high notes.
Hwaa - (G)I-DLE (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remix)
Every person’s different, and so is their preference. So if your summers have been more about partying and clubbing, here’s a perfect houseparty song for you - (G)I-DLE’s Hwaa. The original will make you dance, but the Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike Remix will make you practice the exact dance steps and sing it in your sleep! It’s that addictive. The raps, upbeat music, hiphop beats - it ticks all the summer party songs list.
One in a million - Mark Tuan x Sanjoy
With a groovy electronic beat, One in a Million talks about the feeling of love at first sight, after a really long time. It’s peppy, foot-tapping beat makes the listener fall in love as soon as the chorus hits. It will remind you of one those indie songs you discover on a radio channel that you can’t get out of your head.
Rolling stars - Hello My Beach (Lovestruck In The City OST)
Another month of staying in, if you’re baking, cooking, cleaning, studying or just lying down, Hello My Beach will be your companion in making everything feel softer and nicer. With a punk-rock feel to the song, it’s either a head-banger or a tapping foot song - there’s no in between. After all, what's a summer song without screaming the lyrics and pretending to be a rock n roll superstar?
Encore - GOT 7
Started off with deep lyrics and rough, intense vocals with a soft chorus takes you on a rollercoaster ride. The song is deeply rooted in nostalgia and reminiscing the times GOT7 spent together with Aghases. It holds more importance as this was GOT7’s first release as a group after leaving JYP Entertainment. With a soothing melody, this can be the song you sing at karaoke with your friends!
GOD DAMN - Monsta X’s I.M
A definite bop by I.M, his naturally raspy voice makes it all worth it. The song is from his solo album Duality - and we see that in all the songs, but especially in this track. How flawlessly he fits Korean and English with an upbeat tone and creates a catchy chorus too. This definitely is a song that will make your summer a whole lot better.
Other songs include Wrap Me In Plastic (a Tiktok favourite) by MOMOLAND X CHROMANCE, O.M.O.M by Monsta X ft. Kihyun, Good Girl by HyunA and Way Home by TXT. Ring in 2021’s summer with your favourite idols!
