Three times when Salman Khan's statements stirred controversies!
Salman Khan seems be a controversy-magnet. He has time and again, been involved in various altercations. And these controversies are not only about his court cases, ill-temper, killing of an animal; but a few were stirred by our Dabangg Khan’s statements.
Here are a few instances, when Salman Khan’s bold comments became the cause of debate and wrangle.
1. His quote on 26/11 attacks to a Pakistani channel.
Back in 2010, he made a comment upon the terrorist attacks of 26/11.In an interview given to a Pakistani TV channel, Salman, was asked about the anti-Pakistan sentiment in India, after the attack.
To that Salman replied, "Everybody knew the (Pakistani) government was not behind it and that it was a terrorist attack.” He also said, “It was the elite that were targeted this time, five-star hotels and all. So they panicked. Then they got up and spoke about it. My question is why not before. Attacks have happened in trains and small towns too, but no one talked about them so much.”
"Every human life has equal value n any act of terror, anywhere in the world is unpardonable. be it 9/11 or 26/11,” Salman had tweeted.
After the comments back-fired, Salman publicly apologized and said the interview was presented in a wrong and twisted manner.
He said, "I gave an interview about three weeks ago. Now during this festive time of Eid and Ganesh utsav it has been twisted around and the way it is coming across on tv it is sound insensitive. I was just saying that all lives are equal whether rich or poor. Some attacks may get more media coverage than the others. Why is that? I think every human being is important. Any act of terrorism (in) any part of the world is unpardonable. A terrorist has no nationality. No religion. No guts. I have and always will have faith in our intelligence agencies. I have always had faith in our armed forces and police force. I did not mean to hurt anyone's sentiments and if I have hurt anybody's sentiments I am really sorry.”
2. His take on Taliban’s attack in Peshawar.
Last year in December, Salman Khan made a comment on the Taliban attack. He said, “Ye bahut disgusting hua hai (This is very disgusting). You know Islam ke andar ek begunah ki jaan lena matlab pure insaniyat ka katl karna hai (In Islam killing one innocent means killing humanity). Simple hai, Islam ka matlab peace hai, toh ye Islamic toh hai hi nain (Islam means peace, so this act was not Islamic). Ye waise log hain jo apne fayde ke lie ye sab ghatia jalil harkatein kar rahe hain (They are such people who for their own benefit commit such heinous crimes).”
He also tweeted his thoughts. He wrote, “To save 1 innocent life is to save entire humanity, to kill 1 innocent life is like killing entire humanity,” and “The most heinous crime is killing an innocent,” read his second tweet.
His last two tweets were, “Even wen at war u r nt supposed to harm children, women, old people, religious places and agriculture,” and “Vo hum mai se nahi jiske hath aur zubaan se log mehfooz nahi.”
Since, he was involved in hit-and-run case, his tweets faced severe backlash and became the talk of the nation for a while.

His comments instantly sparked controversy and there have been several debates going on. Later, Salman apologized.
He again posted a series of tweets as follows,
“I had tweeted that Tiger Memon should hang for his crimes and I stand by it. What i also said is that Yakub Memon should not hang for him.”
“I have not said or implied that Yakub Memon is innocent. I have complete faith in the judicial system of our country.”
“Many lives were lost in the Mumbai blasts. And I have repeatedly said the loss of one innocent life is equal to the loss of all humanity.”
“My dad called & said I should retract my tweets as they have the potential to create misunderstanding. I here by retract them.”
“I would like to unconditionally apologise for any misunderstanding I may have created unintentionally.”
“I also strongly condemn those who are claiming my tweets are anti religious. I have always said I respect all faiths and I always will.”
Salman’s dad, Salim Khan said to IBN, “Whatever Salman has written is ridiculous and meaningless. Salman is ignorant of the issue and people should not take him seriously.”
We just hope, next time when Salman makes any sort of comment, he double-checks them.
