Bombay High Court to hear Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case on July 30
If the reports are to be believed, the Bombay High Court will start hearing Bollywood actor Salman Khan's appeal against his five-year jail term in the 2002 hit-and-run case on July 30.
The Supreme Court has also dismissed a plea seeking cancellation of bail of Salman in the hit-and-run case. The plea was filed by the mother of a deceased Mumbai police constable, seeking transfer of the hit-and-run case from Mumbai to Delhi.
The plea had also asked for the cancellation of the bail given to the actor.
Khan, who got a respite in the hit-and- run case after the Bombay High Court stayed his five-year conviction, was earlier directed to submit Rs. two lakhs as security before leaving the country for a show.
Salman was sentenced to five years jail, on May 6, 2015, on charges that he lost control of his car when driving under the influence of alcohol in 2002 and rammed into a group of people sleeping on a pavement. On May 8, the High Court granted him bail and suspended his sentence. It had also said that the actor would need to seek the court's permission every time he wants to travel outside the country.
