Yes I have made mistakes: Musician Pritam talks about the plagiarism charges
One of Bollywood's most loved musicians 'Pritam' has given us innumerable melodious numbers. However, one shadow that always haunts him is the 'plagiarism' issue and the various charges that were thrown at him now and again. In an interview with Rajeev Masand, Pritam spoke about this one openly.
He said, "I have never defended myself over the charges. I have said in all my interviews very very clearly, yes I have made mistakes. For multiple reasons I have made mistakes."
He added, "I remember I had to lecture once about Indian music. There I spoke about influences on Indian music also. It was so normal to me. I've been quite foolish..but..."
"In the beginning I felt it was quite normal. Sometimes I was asked to...but even I used to borrow songs thinking this song is good we can adapt it or whatever..."
"BUT I am also the first person who started taking permission. Half of the time I was told that we will get permission meanwhile you can start. But the permission never came."
"In 2008 it started bothering me. I then decided that I am off this (lifting songs). I got very depressed. I was on the verge of quitting. I also feel there are guys who love my music a lot. I work for them now. BUT the sad part is...this tag will never go...".
