Vidya Balan to play Charlie Chaplin on-screen!
Actor Vidya Balan had recently expressed her desire to play the legendary actor Charlie Chaplin on-screen, when she was invited at the inauguration ceremony of an exhibition held in memory of the iconic actor.
At the inauguration, Vidya had admitted, “I loved Sridevi as Charlie Chaplin in ‘Mr India’and I'd love to attempt Charlie Chaplin too. He has been a huge inspiration.”
And now, if the reports are to be believed, the actress has been approached by Malayalam film director R. Sarath for a film on Chaplin. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, R Sarath has approached her for a Hindi film with Chaplin as the central character. Confirming the news, Sarath quoted to Mirror, “Yes, I have approached Vidya to play the title role of Chaplin and she has agreed. I'm coming to Mumbai next week to meet her. We'll take things forward from there.”
He further revealed, “The Hindi film with Vidya is not a biopic but a serious piece of fiction with lots of smiles and tears.”
Incidentally, Sarath has made the Malayalam film, ‘Buddhanum Chaplinum Chirikkunnu’ (Buddha and Chaplin Smile) which is releasing next week.
