Did ‘Bajirao Mastani’ remind you of ‘Jodha Akbar’?
Ashutosh Gowarikar’s ‘Jodha Akbar’ was an epic love story and so is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’. As finally the trailer of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is out, we couldn’t help but notice similarities between these two epic historical love stories.
Here’s why:
Love Story
While Jodha Akbar was love story of a Mughal Emperor and a Hindu Princess, Bajirao Mastani love story is also on the similar lines. While Ranveer’s Bajirao is a Maratha Warrior, Deepika’s Mastani is Muslim Courtesan and become Bajirao’s second wife.
Location
Both the war love stories have been shot in Rajasthan. Bajirao Mastani has not been shot entirely in Rajasthan, but the battle ground and the palace will remind you of Jodha Akbar.
Deepika and Aishwarya’s sword sequence
Aishwarya practiced sword fighting and Deepika’s sword fighting sequence will remind you Jodha. Deepika amazes us here in a sequence where she fights enemies with a baby in her arms.
Costumes
The heavy and grand costumes of the lead characters, especially the warrior look of Ranveer’s Bajirao is very similar to Hrithik’s Akbar. But both carry it with their own enigmatic style. Even the way ministry of Bajirao cheers for him...the love and adulation shown for him will remind you of Akbar.
Grandeur and Opulence
There’s no dearth in showcase of grandeur and opulence in Bajirao Mastani. From jewellery to costume to the war scenes, both the directors – Ashutosh and Sanjay have held on to their own.
Well, it’s just the teaser that reminded us of another love story set in time of war. And we are so eagerly waiting to catch the love story of Bajirao Mastani. What are your thoughts?
