‘Salman Khan is a legend’ – Sooraj Pancholi
Newbie Sooraj Pancholi can’t stop praising his mentor Salman Khan. The actor is quite gung-ho as well as nervous about the release of his debut film ‘Hero’, which is being produced by Salman.
When asked Sooraj as to how did he bag the project, he said, “I never wanted to be an actor until I met Salman Khan. He called me at Yash Raj Films and introduced me to Kabir Khan. That is when I became an assistant on ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. Also, both my parents are actors and I wasn't good in studies too. Hence I decided to get into acting.”
Quiz Sooraj about what kind of advice Salman gave him before he started working on the film, the debutant revealed, “Before we started the movie, Salman sir told me don’t act much. Just learn dance. And he also told me that jeans and boots should be fine.”
Interestingly, ‘Hero’ is a remake of the 1983 movie of same name that starred Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri in the lead. Ask Sooraj if he has seen the original movie and he says, “I had seen the movie in bits and pieces while it aired on TV. But when Salman sir told me that we are doing this film, I bought a DVD and watched the film. What Jackie sir did, is something that I can't match up to.”
On hearing this, Salman, who was in a jovial mood quickly replied, “Arre pehle bolna tha na yeh!”
Reportedly, Salman had once said in an interview that Sooraj is the new Salman Khan. Probe Pancholi Junior about what he has to say about this compliment, he says, “I don't know why he says that because I don't think I can keep up with him. He is a legend.”
We quite agree to that Sooraj!
