Voluminous lashes for the win? Valentino takes it a notch higher at the couture show
Pat McGrath's feather rimmed eyes left audiences stunned at the couture show. Will it be the next big beauty trend?
Couture fashion weeks are always the most looked-forward-to for they deliver some of the most stunning, creative and exquisite looks. This Spring/Summer 2019, Valentino collection, left audiences and fashion critics awestruck. Pierpaolo Piccioli's latest collection left celebrity guests like Celine Dion and others, in tears because of the beauty of the clothes.
Popular makeup artist Pat McGrath's magic hands worked wonders on the skin of the models who sashayed the ramp. Their eyes were bold, just like their outfits. A sweep of eyeliner and loads of mascara seemed to do the trick for them. The 'eye-catcher' though, was their feathered lids.
Move away from outfits with a hint of feathers, Valentino has taken it up a notch with feather eyelids. Think all the possible colours from the rainbow to monochrome - blue, black, white, violet, pastel green and more, were the colour of feathers used on the red carpet to match the outfits sported by the models. So with every blink and twist of the eyes come to life. The feathers were stuck on to the lashes with tweezers and makeup glue.
The eyes were a stark contrast against the otherwise minimal backdrop and looked absolutely stunning on a face with basic makeup - eyeliner, highlighter, a glossy nude lip and loads of mascara. With this innovative makeup technique, this show clearly surpassed all expectations with this excellent move.
