Skin Care Tips: HERE are things people with dry skin should avoid completely

Every woman has a different skin type. Some women have normal skin and hence don't have to worry much about the skin irritation or other skin-related issues. Some women also have oily skin which makes it difficult for them to moisturise their skin since there's too much oil already present in the skin. But with the right creams and moisturisers, oil in the skin can be controlled too. However, women with dry skin can face more difficulty.

Women with dry skin find it hard to apply makeup, since everything they apply ends up looking cakey because of their skin texture. Dry skin can be frustrating but there are some ways you could unknowingly be making it more difficult to manage.

Here are a few things that women with dry skin should avoid doing at all costs.

Don't wash your face too often:

People with dry skin should avoid washing their face often. Since even just washing your face can dry out your skin. Wash your face in the morning and evening with a gentle face wash that doesn't strip the skin of oil. If you apply makeup, then use a makeup remover wipe instead of washing your face.

Don't apply moisturiser in your skin without damping your skin:

There are a few moisturisers that act as moisture-blockers, which means that they prevent water from evaporating from the skin. Applying moisturiser to dry skin will temporarily soften your skin but applying it to wet skin will be effective in the long run.

Avoid using scented products:

If your skin is dry, it is not wise to use heavily scented lotions or creams, since these scents may further irritate your skin. Hence, opt for unscented or lightly scented products instead.

Don't exfoliate your skin much:

Over exfoliating, your skin can damage the skin barrier and make it even drier. And a damaged skin barrier can create more opportunities for allergens and irritants to gain entry into your skin. People with dry skin are advised to exfoliate only once or twice a week and not more.

Refrain from using products that contain glycolic acid:

It's always better to choose a lactic acid cleanser over glycolic acid cleanser since glycolic acid is a strong exfoliant but it can make dry skin even worse. On the other hand, lactic acid cleansers are mild and they also hydrate your skin.
