Getting a facial? THIS cheat sheet is all you need to know before getting one

There are a number of misconceptions regarding facials. Is your face bleached? Do they have a super-intense cleanup session? How often should you get one? Are they suitable for all skin types? We bust all those myths associated with facials so you know exactly what to expect, and if you have been getting facials, you know what exactly is wrong. 

What you need to keep in mind before getting a facial:

Sensitivity of skin

If you have super sensitive skin or are allergic to something, make sure you inform your facialist beforehand. Extra sensitive skin requires an application of soothing products after the facial so that the skin doesn't burn. 

Skin type

Do you have normal/dry/oily skin? Different skin types require different facials. If somebody with oily skin gets a facial for dry skin, the extra hydrating oils will further clog your pores rather than clean them out, leading to more breakouts and acne. And this does not help your skin at all and takes away the whole point of the facial. 

Other concerns

If you are concerned about breakouts, acne, want to address problems of oily or dry skin, there are special facials that cater to each of these concerns. Let your facialist know well in advance about it. 

If you are getting a facial for the first time, ensure you communicate this with your facialist too. To take extra precautions, they will do a patch test with the bleach to ensure there are no side effects. 

Once you are done with the facial, it is advisable to not head out into harsh sunlight, as your skin is very sensitive after all the probing and direct sunlight will only make your skin drier.
