World Cup 2019, WI vs PAK: Talking Points
All the talking points from Game 2 of the ICC World Cup, between Pakistan and West Indies
Chris Gayle's quickfire 50
Chris Gayle smashed a quickfire 50 as West Indies chased down a paltry 105 in only 13.4 overs. He crossed AB de Villiers' record of 37 sixes in the World Cup, when he smashed two consecutive sixes off Hasan Ali to hold the record of most sixes in the tournament.
The emergence of Thomas
Oshane Thomas, alongside Jason Holder, ran through the Pakistani innings as he picked up 4 wickets. He bowled with precision, stuck to a nagging line and length and hardly allowed the batters breathing space. Babar Azam,Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan and Wahab Riaz were his victims.
The return of Amir
After indifferent performances in ODIs in the recent past, Amir finally got into the act with a three-wicket haul. He picked up the wickets of Gayle, and raised hopes of a Pakistan comeback. He conceded only 26 runs in his six overs, and though the team might have been on the other side of the result, his form augurs well for the side going forward.
