IND vs AUS, ICC World Cup 2019: Bails refuse to fall; David Warner, 5th batsman in the tournament to get saved

Almost 14 matches are over in this tournament and it was the fifth instance where a ball has hit the stumps but the bails didn’t dislodge from the stumps. The latest victim of this incident was Jasprit Bumrah who almost got David Warner in the second over of the second innings itself. However, the Indian bowler was unlucky enough as the bail did not move and David Warner saved his wicket.

However, this isn’t the first time an incident like this happened in this tournament. Before this, 4 other batsmen were saved because of the stubborn bails. It happened in the first match of the tournament itself at The Oval when Adil Rashid bowled to Quinton de Kock. The second instance was in the match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka when Trent Boult bowled to the Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne. It happened again in the 10th match of the tournament when Australia’s Mitchell Starc bowled to Windies’ Chris Gayle. And the fourth instance was between England’s Ben Stokes and Bangladesh’s Saifuddin.

Several questions have been raised about the bails being too heavy and people are urging the ICC to fix the issues quickly.

This can’t keep happening with the bails !!! Hard enough being a bowler nowadays .. needs changing

Previously, the ICC was questioned regarding the poor umpiring standards in the tournament. Chris Gayle was dismissed on a ball that was clearly supposed to be a no ball. It would be essential for them to resolve these issues as soon as possible as we move ahead in the tournament.
