ICC World Cup 2019: Selection conundrum for India as Ravindra Jadeja delivers an impressive performance

India's playing XI were almost certain with two wrist-spinners and two seamers expected to play in the initial matches. However, all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja's performance on Saturday against New Zealand has arisen some confusion. The southpaw played a handy knock of 50 runs and also had a decent outing with the ball as well. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav continued to struggle with his form.

Kuldeep Yadav failed to control the flow of runs and take wickets by giving 44 runs in his 8.1 overs. The Chinaman constantly scalped wickets in the middle-overs during 2018. Of course, he had a large say in India's bowling success in ODI cricket in last twelve months. Though the youngster lost his touch in the IPL, he didn't find the right lengths and hence finished up with below-par numbers. The lack of confidence was visible in his bowling yesterday as well.

Other spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal was very good with his leg-break bowling. He didn't hesitate at all while bowling. Pertinently, Jadeja kept it very tight and was able to pick a wicket as well. Meanwhile, the left-hander apart from his skills with the bat and ball is considered as one of the best fielders of the current era. This makes Jadeja's case stronger to appear in the first XI.

However, the question is can Kuldeep still make it to playing XI if Jadeja plays? As of now, the answer is no because Chahal is in very good form as well. Nonetheless, there will be more confirmation about the final XI after India's second warm-up game against Bangladesh today.
