West Indies on Friday made a tremendous start to the World Cup. The Men in Maroon produced an absolute dominating show against Pakistan, defeating them quite easily by 7 wickets. The Jason Holder-led side bowled exceptionally well on the flat trip of Trent Bridge and later, batsmen made sure to finish the game in just 13.4 overs. Here are the top performances of the match.

Oshane Thomas’ 4-27

The strong Caribbean pacer made most of his height and pace to rattle Pakistan on paltry 105 runs. He bowled right lengths, which Pakistan batsmen couldn’t resist, hence earning himself the man of the match award. The youngster scalped four big wickets including that of in-form Babar Azam and experienced Mohammad Hafeez in his 5.4 overs spell. Apart from his heroic outing, it was captain Holder and Andre Russell who shared 3 and 2 wickets each, respectively.

Chris Gayle’s 50

It was ‘Gayle-storm’ at Trent Bridge as the Caribbean opener straightaway went after Men in Green bowlers in the small chase. He made a fiery 34-ball fifty before being sent back to the pavilion by Mohammad Amir. Gayle struck 6 fours and 3 maximums in the knock to help Windies chase down the total in just 13.4 overs.

Mohammad Amir’s 3-wicket-haul

Although Pakistan had a terrible outing in their World Cup opener, Mohammad Amir's spell is something that Pakistan will cherish. The pacer made a dramatic entry into the World Cup squad and he had a point to prove in this match. The left-arm seamer responded pretty well, picking all three wickets that fell in the Windies innings. He finished with the figures of 6-0-26-3
