ICC World Cup 2019: MS Dhoni will retire when he wants, says Shane Warne
Recently, the former Australian leg spinner spilled the beans on MS Dhoni’s retirement and asked the critics to stop questioning his form.
With the speculations of Dhoni’s retirement post World Cup, Shane Warne has finally called out the critics. Dhoni’s record as a captain as well as a integral player of the team has been significantly impressive over the years. According to Warne, for a player like Dhoni, who has contributed immensely towards the Indian cricket team all these years, these questions about his retirement should come to a stop.
Shane Warne told IANS, "MS Dhoni has been a terrific servant for Indian cricket, he has given his everything to Indian cricket. I can’t believe some people questioned that MS shouldn’t have been there for the World Cup. The thing about retirement is that it is better they say why are you than why don’t you. Dhoni is the only person who knows when the right time is and as a player you know. And whether that is after the World Cup or five years after the tournament he will know when the right time is. Dhoni can retire whenever he wants because he has been that good".
Apart from his spectacular record on the field as a captain and a finisher, this former Indian skipper has been extremely effective for the team behind the stumps. His inputs to the current skipper Virat Kohli and experience on the field will make a change in the team’s journey in the World Cup. MS Dhoni has a splendid average of 50.72 in ODIs and had an good season as the skipper of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019.
