ICC World Cup 2019: Indian skipper, Virat Kohli's special gift to Rashid Khan gets stolen by Asghar Afghan
Afghanistan cricketer Rashid Khan revealed that he was gifted a bat by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli; however, it wasn’t long until former Captain Asghar Afghan stole it.
Virat Kohli holds numerous records in international cricket and is currently one of the best cricketers in the world. He is often known for his aggressive and expressive behaviour on the field. Little do people know about his generosity off the field. In 2016, during a practice session, the Indian skipper gifted Pakistani bowler, Mohammad Amir his bat for his fantastic bowling. Before this gesture, he even congratulated the bowler for his exceptional spell. A year later during the Champions Trophy tournament, the skipper gifted another bat to Amir.
However, Virat Kohli’s generosity in terms of gifting bats is not just limited to that incident. Recently, Rashid Khan also revealed that he was gifted one such bat by Virat and he termed it as a special bat.
Rashid Khan said that he often collects bats given to him by great players and it helps him in scoring runs for the team. However, the bat given by Virat Kohli was not there in his collection for long. Former Captain Asghar Afghan apparently stole the special bat given by the Indian captain to the spinner.
Speaking of Asghar stealing the bat, Rashid Khan told cricket.com.au, "He had already taken it out from my bag and put it in his own bag. That was a special bat, from a special player as well. He took that bat and I hope he doesn't do well with that and gives it back".
Afghanistan will play its first World Cup match in the tournament today against the Aussies at Bristol County Ground.
