Just a few days back before the commencement of the World Cup, the England Cricket Team was considered as joint favourites, along with India. Everything was in favour of the team - from familiar conditions to the balance in its squad. However, the concerns arose when injuries started to hit the team one by one.

Mark Wood suffered a hamstring injury and left the field during the warm up match against Australia. Fast bowler, Jofra Archer who was rested for the first warm up game was called in as a substitute fielder but was soon sent back to the pavilion after injuring himself. However, he came back to the field after a few hours after getting his injury treated. Prior to this, England already received a huge shock post the finger injury of their captain Eoin Morgan. He dislocated and fractured his finger in the midst of a training session prior to the warm up match against the Aussies. Although the team is confident for his return in their first World Cup match against South Africa, it will still be a huge blow for the team.

Apart from that, England’s one of the crucial bowlers Adil Rashid missed the warm up match due to a shoulder injury. The increasing injuries in the team during the match led to England’s assistant coach Paul Collingwood take on the field as a substitute fielder. The rising injuries are definitely turning out to be a major concern for the team and they’ll be hoping to see their key players back in action before the commencement of the tournament.
