On Saturday May 25th, the defending champions, proved yet again that they are a 5-times World Cup Champions team for a reason. Post the ball tampering incident of the Australian Cricket Team, which led to the ban of two of their major key players Steve Smith and David Warner, the Aussies were back in action in their first warm up game. Steve Smith led the responsibility of the batting side by scoring a magnificent century and helping the team reach a respectable total of 297. David Warner, on the other hand, was in good form and scored 43 runs in 55 balls. Prior to the World Cup, Warner has a splendid IPL series where he was named the highest run-getter in the series.

However, despite their extraordinary return on the cricketing field, it will take more time for the duo to make a comeback for a few spectators. Both the Aussie stalwarts were booed in the field when they came on to bat. The chants of “cheat, cheat, cheat” started emerging as soon as Steve Smith walked in the pavilion to bat. Warner was booed when he came to bat and returned back to the pavilion. We hope as the tournament goes ahead, their hatred for this Australian duo diminishes.
Australia will play its first official World Cup match on June 1 against Afghanistan at Bristol County Ground.
