Yudh : Welcome to the world of Yudhisthir Sikarwar
Sony Entertainment Television's 'Yudh' which stars Indian Film Industry's superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role began telecast today and the first episode was dedicated to an introduction to the world of Yudhisthir Sikarwar who is played by Amitabh Bachchan.
The show begins with Yudhisthir waking up in cold sweat and the audiences are introduced to his home life where he lives with his wife, Nayantara, and son, Rishi. He is the morally upright owner of Shanti Constructions who has a one point agenda in all his dealings and those of others - people and their lives should not be harmed by anyone's actions. It is due to this characteristic of his that he rings up the commissioner (Kay Kay Menon) of Fahimabad Nagar Nigam about the faulty construction of a flyover which he predicts will fall in the next 10 years. However the constructors of that flyover listen in on this conversation and approach Yudh for a talk. They get a meeting with his loyal employees Anand and Mona and it is quickly realized that they would do anything for Yudh. A deal is struck between the two parties where it is decided that the faulty construction would be put right but if there are any accidents, then there would be hell to pay. However things reach a low point when news of the flyover not being up to mark is aired on a news channel and the rival construction company blames Yudh for the news leak.
Meanwhile Yudh's wife calls him regarding her brother who is coming home after spending time in jail. She wants him to come home so that he can welcome her brother but Yudh is not excited at the prospect and makes excuses about work. Nayantara's family were builders too but seemed to have run into bad luck which ruined their business and family both - a topic which still touches a raw nerve of both the brother and the sister as is evident when her brother gets into a brawl with a man who has taken over a property he had left with a friend when he had been put behind bars. Yudh's son, Rishi, is with his uncle at the time of the altercation and he calls upon Anand to solve the matter.
Yudh suffers from a rare disease which randomly attacks his nerves and disables the body part it attacks temporarily. This disease has left him with 3-5 years of life but he is unwilling to share the secret with anyone. The audience is also introduced to Taruni, Yudh's daughter who not everyone is aware of. Taruni works as a surgeon at a hospital which has been constructed by Yudh. Yudh is informed by a mysterious man that the building of the very same hospital will collapse during the night and a panicked Yudh calls Anand and asks him to arrange for the fire department etc and reach the spot. Strangely, Yudh keeps seeing clowns all around him as he makes his way to the hospital and even imagines one in the hospital itself.
He is able to get everyone out of the hospital but Taruni asks him to wait as she is in the OT performing a surgery. Yudh gets an attack and his arm stops working just as the building starts collapsing around him.
Yudh has had an interesting and gripping start leaving behind many a questions and a will to switch on the television the next night for the answers.
