Mahabharat’s Shakuni and Bigg Boss 8 contestant Praneet Bhat gets hitched! (PICS)
Praneet Bhat, who rose to fame as Shakuni uncle of Star Plus’s Mahabharat tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Kanchan in her hometown Lucknow on November 4.
The couple had their first meeting in Mumbai about 5 years ago while doing theatre. Praneet was floored by Kanchan at first sight and pursued her until she got assured about his love for her. In Bigg Boss 8, Praneet even confessed his love for Kanchan. Though Kanchan had asked Praneet to refrain from mentioning her name in the show for fear of her parents, Praneet could not hold himself back and went on to open up about his feelings for her with his co-contestants.
Soon after he got evicted from BB8, he went ahead and met Kanchan’s parents and asked for her hand in marriage. Luckily, for the couple, Kanchan’s parents gave their consent to the marriage.
After a Hindu wedding in Lucknow, the pair will have an elaborate Kashmiri wedding in Jammu which happens to be Praneet’s ancestral place. Sushant Digvikar, Pritam, Siddharth Kumar Tewary, Diandra Soares, will attend the wedding. A grand reception has been planned for November 7. Post their return to Mumbai, Praneet and Kanchan will throw a party for their friends.
