Some stories are so close to our hearts that we simply refuse to believe their depressing and disturbing conclusions. Here are 10 such heart-breaking Bollywood plots that have certainly made us cry!

Mother India

This epic drama is one of the most devastating tragedies in the history of Indian cinema. Nargis has given her best performance. She plays a poor, destiny-hit yet a strong woman, who chooses integrity over blood and shoots her misguided son in the climax. This leaves us in a ceaseless run of tears.

Sadma

This is a beautiful tale of a school teacher (Kamal Haasan) and his emotional bonding with a girl (Sridevi) who has lost her memory in a car crash. This innocent relationship becomes stronger gradually until one day when Sridevi regains her memory back and fails to remember Kamal. The climax is utterly disturbing where Kamal is trying his best to make Sri remember his relationship with her. our eyes are moist every time we go through it.

Anand

The full-of-life Anand has cancer and is soon going to die. As he nears his inevitable death, we can't stop our emotions. The finale where Anand is breathing his last, is the most disconcerting.

Kal Ho Na Ho

Much like Anand, Kal Ho Na Ho too has a main lead who is destined to die due to cancer. SRK lovers simply wish their hero to survive in the end. But we can't help shedding tears, as the film ends on a sad note.

Rang De Basanti

The film starts as a joy ride but soon turns into one of the most dreaded journeys, as the four friends witness a very dramatic end to their lives.

Kaagaz Ke Phool

Guru Dutt's brilliant emoting credentials proved once again that there's no one like him when it comes to portraying emotional characters. The scene where he remembers his happy old days as a director, his romantic relationship with Waheeda Rehman, as he breathes his last in an empty studio, is depressing.

Devdas

The fact that Devdas and Paro will never meet and see a happy ending to their passionate love story, makes our eyes moist.

Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak

The cute, young couple of Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla die in each other's arms in the end. The star-crossed lovers leave us distressed, as we come to realise that there's no happily-ever-after for them.

Ek Duuje Ke Liye

Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri play passionate lovers who are ready to go to any extent to make their love story a success. But unfortunately, both have to meet drastic misfortunes – while Kamal is attacked by goons, Rati is raped and left to die. Sadly, both end up jumping off a cliff in the finale.

Omkara

The gloomy climax of this drama is too disheartening for words. A beautiful love story dies an unnatural death owing to some misunderstanding. A very shattering ending, we must say!
