pTron Basspods 992 TWS review; Decent performing TWS with ANC under Rs 2,000

pTron has recently expanded its audio portfolio with the launch of its latest TWS called the pTron Basspods 992. The newly launched TWS falls in the budget segment and comes with some exciting features and hardware configurations. The USP of the newly launched TWS is ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), lightweight, premium looks, powerful drivers and a lot more. However, these are the things which the company also promised at the launch event, so to get a better understanding of the product pTron has contacted us and shared one unit for review. We have used the device for sweet three weeks and finally here with the depth review and our thoughts about the pTron Basspods 992. 

pTron Basspods 992 design and comfort

The newly launched pTron Basspods 992 comes in a black and white colour option and we have received the white variant which looks premium. The charging case of the device is rectangular-shaped and it seems to be very handy and easy to carry on the go. At the bottom, it offers a USB Type-C port for fast charging. The earbuds feature an in-ear design with replaceable silicone ear tips and we must say that the lightweight earbuds are very comfortable to wear and fits perfectly in the ears. We have used the device while outdoor activities like running, cycling, gyming, and more but we never faced any issue with the comfort of the device. Overall the design and fit impressed us and what else we can expect from a TWS at Rs 1,999. 

pTron Basspods 992 features and specifications

The newly launched pTron Basspods 992 ANC earbuds come equipped with active noise cancelling technology to avoid external noise while listening to songs or talking over calls. These wireless headphones are said to be capable of channelling a maximum of 30dB of ambient noise, meaning they prevent almost up to 80% of the noise.

You can also hear the ambient sound around without taking off the buds by switching to Transparency Mode. Basspods 992 TWS earbuds also come with convenient touch sensors for seamless music and call control. Low latency streaming, instant access to the phone's voice assistant, IPX4 water and sweatproof, and lightweight makes it one the best TWS in the segment.

pTron Basspods 992 battery and connectivity

According to the company, the pTron Basspods 992 is capable of delivering a battery life of up to 20 hours with the charging case. The charging case comes with a battery pack of 500mAh and both earbuds each have a 40mAh built-in battery for long-lasting battery life. During our usage with pTron Basspods 992, we received a battery life of around 3-4 hours in one full charge and with a charging case, the TWS has achieved 13-14 hours of battery life with non-stop music playback. 

On the connectivity front, the audio device offers Bluetooth connectivity and it requires a few steps to connect the device with the smartphone. However, it takes 3.22 seconds to automatically connect to the paired device whenever you pull the buds out of the case. This might annoy some users but considering the price, we can say that it is manageable. 

pTron Basspods 992 performance and clarity 

We have used the device for more than three weeks and tried to test it in all possible circumstances. We have used the pTron Basspods 992 for gaming, listening to music, watching movies, video content, calling in a crowded place, and more. During the use, we haven’t faced any distortion in the quality of the TWS. The gameplay experience of the audio device is also impressive as the latency is less and it doesn’t delay the sound. While on the other side, the microphones are on a little weaker side as we found some difficulty during calling in crowded places, but it performs well when you are in a less crowded place and the ANC works really well. The overall experience of the pTron Basspods 992 was nice and we can recommend them for a sub 2K category earbuds.
