Nothing beats sitting down with a friend, booting up a game, and playing it in the same room together. Split-screen choices have always been a feature of Call of Duty games, and it appears that Sledgehammer Games will continue that legacy with Vanguard split-screen.

Split-screen gameplay is present in Call of Duty: Vanguard, as it was in many previous games in the genre. This multiplayer option is usually the most popular, coming in just ahead of Zombies or even the campaign in the past. However, Call of Duty: Vanguard supports split-screen on consoles, so you can still play couch co-op with a friend if you have a copy of the game on a current-gen or last-gen Xbox or PlayStation. Thanks to the game's simple cross-save function, you can even carry over your progress from your PC save and vice versa.

How to Setup Split-Screen in COD: Vanguard

To play Call of Duty Vanguard in split-screen mode, have your friend turn on a second controller and sign in to their account on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One. The second person can log in as a guest if they don't have a PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account.

After logging in, the lobby leader chooses the mode they want to play - local or online – and clicks search.

If you want the other players to play online, they'll need their own PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account, as well as PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold. You can only play locally if all of your players don't have access to this.

It is absolutely possible to sign into a separate Xbox Live or PlayStation Network account. A guest account is a way to go if users don't want to go through the hassle of creating a separate account. The latter method makes the process quick and uncomplicated, although progress is often a problem.

Only the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S support split-screen. On a PC, you won't be able to use the feature.
