Far Cry 6 is one of the most anticipated games of 2021, but some users are facing performance issues while playing the game. Even with graphics cards that meet the demanding 11GB video memory requirement, running the HD texture pack at 4K resolution is oddly problematic. It can lead to textures not loading or a jarring mix of high and low definition textures.

A user named contrabardus wrote on Reddit that while playing on PC, they deactivated the overlay for Ubisoft Connect - the service that connects Ubisoft's loyalty program and desktop software - in order to fix a notification glitch. According to the user, they were playing Far Cry 6 "with every graphical level maxed out" on a PC with very excellent hardware. The user explained that the frame rate often bounce between 48 FPS and roughly 70 FPS at max graphics settings and frame-limiter disabled while the overlay was on. According to the user, disabling the Ubisoft Connect Overlay significantly improved the framerate. Ubisoft's own overlay appears to be the source of the performance drop for this Reddit user, as well as many others who appear to agree.

Disabling Ubisoft Connect Overlay?

This is how you can disable the Ubisoft Connect overlay on your PC; however, you should be aware that doing so will disable all of Ubisoft Connect's functionality, including Multiplayer and Co-Op. To disable the Unisoft Connect overlay, run Ubisoft Connect with the ".exe" file, access settings from the top-right corner of the screen, and uncheck the "Enable-In-Game Overlay" option under "General”.

This will disable the Ubisoft Connect overlay, which may benefit PC players with performance concerns in Far Cry 6. When you first start Far Cry 6, the game will warn you that if the Ubisoft overlay is turned off, some functionality will be disabled, and it will try to persuade you to turn it back on. Make sure the "Do not show this message again" box is checked so you don't get the same warning notice every time you start the game. In the meantime, this appears to be the next best solution for Far Cry 6 on PC. Ubisoft will likely release a patch in the coming weeks to assist resolve this issue, but in the meantime, this appears to be the next best option for Far Cry 6 on PC.

Far Cry 6 System Requirements

Far Cry 6 is placed in a rich open world to explore filled with plenty of components and equipment to keep your gaming screen light up with gunfire almost all of the time.
