Diablo Immortal's closed beta edition will be available to Diablo fans. Blizzard Entertainment has announced that a new Diablo Immortal closed beta phase will begin soon. This new playable version of the mobile Diablo game has been published, following a closed alpha earlier this year. As you might anticipate, this beta includes a number of new features that make the game more similar to the final version that will be released next year.

Diablo Immortal Closed Beta

The closed beta, like the closed alpha, will not be available to everyone. It's only available for Android and is currently only available to players in Australia and Canada, with plans to expand to Korea, Japan, and China in the coming weeks. Now, with a little help from Diablo Immortal's game director Wyatt Cheng and production director Caleb Arseneaux, let's go over what players can expect from the closed beta.

When it comes to the additional features that Blizzard has included in the Diablo Immortal beta, the most notable addition is a new class. In this playable test, the Necromancer class is brand new, allowing players to destroy adversaries with swarms of undead. In addition, Blizzard has also introduced gamepad support to Diablo Immortal, which was a feature that many fans requested following the alpha.

According to Wyatt Cheng, Immortal's Game Director, to map touchscreen movement controls to physical buttons but adding extra granularity, such as targeting a skill at a specific enemy, took some time. Although the physical controls do not yet support menu navigation which will be added in the final version next year. Blizzard claims this is a decent first step and that more committed players will be happy with its implementation.

The default bindings allow players to move and aim individually with the analogue sticks, with basic and ultimate attacks, as well as use potion and interact, assigned to the face buttons. The bumpers/triggers will activate your character's four skills. During the test, players will be allowed to modify the bindings if they prefer a different layout.

Diablo Immortal's roster of playable classes has grown once again with the closed beta. Players can now try out the Necromancer in addition to the Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, and Wizard. The Necromancer, like all the other classes, will feature some recognisable powers, but will yet feel unique from prior iterations.

Miscellaneous Changes

Aside from these exciting PvP and PvE upgrades, the Codex, Paragon, and XP systems are being fine-tuned and polished behind the scenes. Many of these improvements and changes are targeted at making the levelling and progression process go more smoothly. The Codex Power Progression UI, for example, has been enhanced to give players a better path through tutorials and goals.

In-Game Purchases

For the first time, in-game purchases will be available on Android smartphones during the Closed Beta. As we move forward, this is a significant development milestone. Blizzard want all Diablo Immortal players to be satisfied with their gaming investment, and that any purchases they make provide the value they expect. Validating the game's appeal in this way is critical to guaranteeing a smooth launch and ensuring that Blizzard will continue to support it for years to come. The Empowered Battle Pass, Eternal Orbs (which can be used to buy consumable things like Crests in-game), and promotional bundles will all be available for purchase.

When it comes to Diablo Immortal's release date, Blizzard has yet to give a particular date. For the time being, it'll only be available in the first half of 2022.
