Virat Kohli’s opinion needs to be respected: Kapil Dev on picking India’s coach
Kapil Dev, the member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), on Thursday, said that captain Virat Kohli's opinion on choosing India's coach needs to be respected.
Kapil Dev, the member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which is going to choose India’s next head coach on Thursday said that they have to respect captain Virat Kohli’s opinion before taking a final call. Earlier also, another member of the committee had signalled about giving Virat’s opinion a say. Adding to that Kapil Dev said,
"That's his (Kohli) opinion we have to respect everybody's opinion," Kapil told reporters before receiving the 'Bharat Gaurav', East Bengal's highest honour.
The World Cup-winning captain also stated that the job of picking India isn’t tough, "It's not tough. You just do your job to the best of your ability," he said.
He alongside Anushuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy are going to pick India’s upcoming coach whose last date of applications already expired on Tuesday. A few big names have applied for the job while the current coach Ravi Shastri will get an automatic entry in the selection process.
Recently, Indian captain Virat Kohli said in the press conference that Shastri has done well as coach and backed him to continue with his job. However, some former cricketers questioned Rav’s role after India’s back-to-back World Cup semi-final elimination in 2015 and 2019.
