Rahul failed to capitalize on starts in all the four innings. In the first Tests, scoring 44 and 38 but failed to convert them to a huge score. His form dipped further in the second Test as he managed to score only 13 and 6. Before the tour, Rahul had 12 single-digit scores in his last 24 Test innings.
He has scored just 484 runs at an average of 21.84 over the last two years. Apart from his poor form with the bat, he also lacks longevity, averaging just 35 balls per innings.
Following continuous trolls and criticism by fans on social media Rahul took to Twitter to post a cryptic message. The opener posted a photo where he could be seen wearing a t-shirt with the caption ‘ No social media’ and captioned the picture with the words 'The irony'.
