Daniel Vettori's jersey number 11 retired by New Zealand Cricket
Daniel Vettori has played the most number of ODIs for New Zealand - 291. His jersey number 11 was retired today by the board to honour his contributions
The New Zealand cricket board have decided to retire the no.11 shirt in honour of former spinner and captain Daniel Vettori.
Ne Zealand, who are currently touring Sri Lanka for a two Test match and a three-game T20I series, revealed the jersey numbers of the players selected in the Test squad whilst also confirming that Vettori's number will be retired.
The cricket team have decided to retire the shirt numbers of all the players who represent New Zealand in more than 200 ODIs. The Kiwis tweeted the development while announcing the shirt numbers of the players on Twitter. The first Test begins from August 14.
Vettori played 291 ODIs for New Zealand, and ended his career with 297 wickets and 2253 runs, before retiring from the game after the World Cup in 2015.
