Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot spells victory for women all around the world

Wonder Women is much more than just a superhero movie and here's why...

Wonder Women was directed by a woman and we couldn't be happier! The film is a turning point for not only Patty Jenkins, but for Hollywood itself. Even though this isn't the first woman-centric superhero film that has been made, Wonder Woman stands out because of how much it resonates with women across the globe.

Unlike Elektra, Catwoman and the rest of the male-directed, female oriented superhero bandwagon, Wonder Woman focuses on the raw and real strength of a woman, without ever shifting focus to how appealing or 'hot' the character is looking. For instance, there a quite a few times these women have come across as being objectified, no matter how powerful or badass they are. Remember Ellen Ripley from the popular Alien film series? All those prolonged scenes of her in her underwear... yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. You see, with Wonder Woman, that never happens. Even when Gal Gadot is somersaulting across landscapes in an itsy-bitsy leather outfit, she looks like a woman on a mission. I'd like to believe that this is evidence of perception difference, between the mind of a male and female director.

Now that we're done talking about how thrilled we are that Wonder Woman was directed and envisioned by a woman, there's more to the film that really differentiates it from what we're used to. While most superheroes have an impaired disposition towards love and life at first and set out with justified detrimental purpose, Diana (Gal Gadot) is not emotionally damaged and believes that love is powerful and that goodness in mankind really does exist. Here is a badass with a good ass (that doesn't really need camera angle emphasis), whose necessity of moral rectitude will blow your mind; a superhero who is capable of saving the world, without submission to the dark side.

The reason we're emphasising the film resonating with women around the world is because of the right way in which everything is scripted and portrayed. Be it her life on an island that is entirely populated by women, or her regular interactions with other mortals ('cause let's face it, how often does a superhero converse with other women in these films?!) - this one's refreshing, and hence, special.

Though Gal Gadot's character is hard hitting and will take your breath away, take a moment to mentally applaud her insanely amazing mother, Queen Hippolyta and aunt, Antiope. Excuse us this mild spoiler, but the action sequence with the latter is probably one of the coolest you'll ever see!

Even though there are minor loopholes that prove that Wonder Woman isn't as perfect as we're claiming it to be, the film is truly a landmark, as far as superhero franchises go. It might not be flawless, but it's most definitely a well-made, inspiring film that will leave you wishing you could possess that kind of power and soul. It will leave you wishing you had a Queen Hippolyete fiercely tell you - “Go in peace, my daughter. And remember that, in a world of ordinary mortals, you are a Wonder Woman.” Sigh!
