The new year has begun and most of us tend to keep resolutions and many of the resolutions are pertaining to our health and fitness #Guilty! Whether you want to gain weight, lose weight, get ripped or just maintain that body and push your fitness limits, exercising is an integral and inevitable part of the process. 

If you have taken the plunge and paid your membership fee or trainer fee then you have won half the battle by just taking the first step. However, initiating and having motivation from within is not all you need. It is 6 AM and you are standing inside the gym, wondering you made it here, but now what? Don't let lethargy bough you down, don’t drag yourself to the gym only to spend your time performing a weak training session that’s more yawning than exercising. Here are some simple pre-workout tips and tricks that will help you feel energetic so you push your limits and get the most out of your workout session. 

1. Get enough sleep 

You know that feeling when you have slept well and wake up feeling fresh and recharged, well, it is true there is no substitute to sleep. 

Get at least 8 hours of sleep, is necessary a night before your workout.

2. Drink water as soon as you wake up 

The body has been in fasting mode for the past 8 hours, hence, you naturally wake up dehydrated. Whether you feel the need for drinking water or not you must drink at least a litre of water to hydrate yourself, energize yourself and feel fresh. 

3. Pre- Workout Meals

Eat Good carbs that provide energy. This food provides instant energy and is an essential to any workout. Here are some options: 

Apple

Dark Chocolate

Banana

Avocado

Dried Fruit 

Flavoured Yogurt

Organic Popcorn

4. Maintain Gap 

Make sure you eat the meal or snack 30 to 90 minutes before the workout so you do not feel bloated. If you are eating a larger meal stick for 30 mins and if you are eating a small snack then 30 minutes should suffice. 

5. Multivitamin

If you are taking multivitamins then before a workout take vitamin B Take a multivitamin, especially one that is high in vitamin B. This vitamin helps disperse the energy from food throughout your bloodstream.

6. Caffeine 

When all else fails, caffeine comes to your rescue. Drink a cup of black coffee before your workout. The caffeine will provide you with a quick burst of energy and soothe muscle ache as well. 

7. The ACV Detox drink

8. Music 

Another universal pick me up is music, just listen to your favourite energetic soundtracks while getting ready for the gym, you may not be eating or physically doing something to your body, but music can be just as effective as caffeine in giving a burst of energy.

Another quick fix when feeling fatigued is to just squeeze a lemon and drink the juice, the stingy zesty flavour will wake you up and the vitamin C gives a burst of energy. 

Remember, exercise is a blessing, not a chore. One should work out and be physically grateful they can.
