Here's why people with tattoos can teach you a thing or two about life
No, we're all not angry, upstarts and rebellious...
"Sometimes the nicest people you meet are covered in tattoos, and sometimes the most judgmental you meet go to church on Sundays."
It's natural for a person with tattoo's in visible places to garner (unwanted) attention while on the street, but when you're tattooed and living in India, you get a little more attention than necessary.
Being a person who has had this experience first hand, I can vouch for the fact that people with tattoos are considered quite the rebellious kind, who occasionally get the stare down from the 'righteous' aunties and uncles of society, who ask their children to think long and hard before initiating friendships with my kind.
Now before you go on a rant about how we're evolving as a nation and our minds are broadening, let me stop you right there. While I agree that getting inked has become somewhat of a trend in today's world, there's just no denying that there are still an awful lot of people who don't approve of such misconduct (LOL).
So why do these people associate a person (especially a girl) with tattoos with someone who has no morals? Why is there a tag, that this girl is probably the 'wild kind' who could quite possibly get into a whole lot of trouble?
Are we in the stone age? No. Have I misbehaved with you? No. Then, why?
Well, as much as you hate to hear it, the chances of the girl with tattoos being just as shy, just as playful, just as kind and just as ethical as any other effortlessly accepted 'normal' person, is pretty high! In fact, there are quite a few life lessons that only a person with tattoos can teach you. Don't believe me? Let me break down a few for you...
They know themselves
In a world that is constantly trying to tell you who to be, being nothing but yourself is a rare quality. People with multiple tattoos usually know themselves and their emotions well enough. They know who they are and what they want. Hence, they can To arrive at a permanent decision of what they would like to ink on their bodies.
They understand commitment
As you know, tattoos are permanent decisions - a life long commitment. Those who get inked are usually fully aware of what they're getting into and aren't afraid of sporting it for the rest of their lives. This has positive implications for their commitment towards both, personal or professional dealings.
They reflect and appreciate deeper meaning
Tattoos are a way of expression and most people have a story behind their chosen designs. If you care enough to notice, you'll see that those with tattoos are people that are able to see past the sublunary, and turn it into something more meaningful.
They're sure about their line of career
Defying the popular belief that tattooed people aren't taken too seriously when it comes to jobs and professional life, we only get inked when we're sure of the career path we're going to follow and that we won't face rejection due to body art. We're clear about who we are and that there is indeed, a whole lot of careers that we can happily pursue, contrary to popular belief.
They're expressive
Bottling up one's feelings is known to be the perfect recipe for disaster. Tattoos are a way of expression for most people and those who get tattooed are obviously the kind who don't believe in hiding what's important to them.
They're resilient and aren't afraid of criticism
Getting inked is no excruciating process, but your threshold of pain definitely needs to be a little above average. Also, we can't not take a moment to appreciate how people with tattoos know that they're in for a whole lot of staring and judging, but still choose to go ahead with it.
The whole point of this article, was definitely not to promote getting inked, but to simply state that we too, are just like you. We're as capable of being respectful, of being honest and kind, of running a house and home, and of love and friendship.
So if we can respect you, we'd like a little bit of consideration in return. We're not asking you to be okay with it, just to accept that there are people that are. So widen your minds, 'cause you know what they say - "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
