We all clearly remember the bouncy-haired charmer with a voice to match from the ever popular millennial band - One Direction. Yup, I'm talking about Harry Styles, the intense-eyed boy, who rocked our world with his versatile voice notes and his dapper style.

After One Direction parted in early 2016, each of the boys decided to focus on their solo careers. Going their own way, Zayn Malik was the first one to make a name for himself outside of the band and did it pretty damn well! Now, Harry is next in line and has just dropped his self-titled solo album that is already creating a whirlwind amongst his loyal fan base.

Cleverly moving away from the entire 'boy band' vibe, Harry Styles' new album is not even close to what we'd expect it to be. Delightfully surprising, the tracks show an evident, smooth transition from a teenage pop star to a dreamy gentleman. Every song will have you notice his coming of age and coming into his own, which is rather overwhelming for a die-hard OneD fan.

Styles' first single from the album, titled, Sign Of The Times, is an undulated rock ballad with a cryptic yet tranquil theme. The guitar solos and backup choir vocals add depth to the track and will have you falling in love with this old-school number. The song ends with Styles' showing off his brilliant vocal range and if you've seen the video, you've probably already drooled over an antagonized yet suave Harry.

Apart from Sign Of The Times, the other nine tracks too talk about Harry's experiences and are drenched in heartache. Another noteworthy song is Two Ghosts. In the attempt to decode the message behind all Styles' lyrics, many have come to the conclusion that this particular one might be slyly and 'swiftly' Taylor made for a certain ex! The lyrics go - “We’re not who we used to be, we’re just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat.” Hmm. Okay, then.

Moving on, the other numbers like Sweet Creature (weirdly resembling Blackbird by The Beatles), Only Angel (a Mick Jagger appeal) Ever Since New York (Instigating more Taylor made theories) and more, have shown Harry in a whole new light altogether.

Though the change is refreshing and quite cool in a way, what might not work is the whole 'pity party' vibe that the album has. Though the lyrics are deep, tell a story and have a soul, for a slightly older audience, it's hard to fathom how a young man of merely 23 could tell such hard hitting stories. On the other hand, the One Directioner in me will aid and abet with Styles' risky move of transition and will resonate with the music, anyhow.
