Friends: The one story line that Mathew Perry refused to do
'Chandler Bing' from Friends aka Mathew Perry just revealed a secret...
There's hardly anyone I know who hasn't been glued to the hit television series - Friends. In fact, most people I know are still addicted to the show and watch re-runs on a daily basis.
The show has a whopping 10 seasons that were all equally super-duper successful, to say the least, and was the characters became a household phenomenon up until it's final episode on the 6th of May 2004.
Given that the show spanned over such a long period of time, one can imagine how many back-and-forths must've happened on certain ideas. In a recent interview, Mathew Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the show, revealed that there was one particular plot line that he remembers rejecting.
Speaking on a television show, Perry said, "There was a storyline on Friends where Chandler went to a male strip joint because he really liked the sandwiches. I called up and said, 'Let's not do this one."
Though one can quite easily imagine this whole sequence of Chandler doing such a thing and then being laughed at by the rest of the gang (Rachel, Joey, Ross, Phoebe, Monica), what's hard to comprehend is why Perry's character was given this story line when Joey's (Matt Leblanc) character was the one who'd do anything for sandwiches. Strange, right?
Unfortunately, the host of the show didn't have time to quiz Perry on the same, nor was there enough time to ask him why he refused this particular plot line.
In a recent interview, the co-creator of "Friends", Marta Kauffman mentioned that the ever loved '90s sitcom will never come back. "Nope! Never happening. I know, (rumours) happen all the time! Not happening. Not ever," she said at a Netflix special screening.
A few weeks ago, actress Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green on the show, said "Friends" would have failed miserably if it were made today as people are glued to their mobiles and do not have time to talk to each other.
