Sitting at a desk can be tiring in itself. The constant posture and immobility can create a lot of problems on a long run. More so, the screen brightness, restricted movement, posture and constant typing and browsing can also take a toll on some important muscles in the body. So here are a few things that you need to do if you sit at a computer all day.

Set a limit

It is necessary to set time intervals to take the eyes off the screen. Constant staring at the bright screen can cause dry eyes and in some cases, headaches. So just set a timer for an hour and after it goes off, just give your eyes some rest. Maybe you can close your eyes for a while and meditate or just blink as many times as you can.

Stretch

Sitting at a desk all day can restrict the movement of multiple muscles in the body. It especially creates a problem in the shoulder and neck muscles. So just give your body a little stretch once in a while. It is necessary for the blood to keep flowing through every part of  the body even when you are not moving a lot.

Perfect the desk

It is necessary to have a clean desk. Cluttered desk tend to create a messy environment that over the course of time creates stress. Also, it is necessary to level the monitor or laptop in such a manner that it does not strain the neck muscles.

Go big

Small letters on a backlit monitor can cause strain to the eyes. Small letters require more effort to understand what is written. This can be avoided by keeping the brightness low while also increasing the font size.

Eye fatigue

‘While your eyes may not seem like they have much to do with your back and posture, eye fatigue can cause you to slouch, lean in closer to your computer, and more. Simply looking away from your screen for a few seconds every 30 minutes or so should do the trick’, according to Wikihow. You can use the 20-20-20 rule which is that you need to look at a 20 feet distance for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.
