26/11 Mumbai Attack: 10 years to the darkest period that tried to break India but ended up awakening humankind
Today marks the 10th year of the horrific 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks
I still remember 10 years ago I woke up early morning at 5.30 to get ready and leave for school. I saw Mum and Dad glued to the television screen, the images, the video clips screamed trauma. It screamed pain, helpless, at first like any other 14 years old, I had absolutely no idea what was happening. It is after staring at the screen for a while is when things became clear and a cold shiver went down my spine. It was a terrorist attack! In my city, in my motherland, by men who were devils in the body of human beings. Predators, who roamed around mercilessly on the streets of Mumbai, hunting down innocent souls.
It was a horror like no other. A fight between the good and the bad, between the devil and evil in its truest form. The famous Taj Mahal Hotel, Oberoi Trident, Cama Hospital, Leopold Cafe, CST Station, were the main spots in South Mumbai wherein 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists pulled out the attacks. The barbaric act lasted for a whole three days and Mumbai was in a blanket of pure silence and fear. But don't be mistaken as the city of dreams is extremely well-known for its never giving up spirit.

How many times have we seen an entire city stand up together, stronger than ever and just screaming out loud, that we won't back down? Even during this hour of horror, Mumbaikar’s came out lending their hands, support, shelter, shoulder, so that everyone stays put and together. If this isn’t real humanity then what is? A lot of damage was done, a lot of families were left shattered. But it was the pure act of kindness is why a lot of relationships were created too and out of sheer compassion. These relationships that enveloped the broken hearts and atleast attempted in binding them together. After those three days of panic, terror and trepidation, our city men were back to work and on the streets and life was back to normal. There was absolutely no fear because Mumbaikar’s like always were unfazed. The strength of the common man surfaced more than ever.
