It is the second week of January and we don't want to ask how anybody's resolutions are going. They are probably being followed religiously or have been shoved and hidden under the carpet. For those who have done the latter but still want to try and get back to their resolution, we have news. According to experts, there are simple hacks that will help you get back on track with just a little bit of effort.

Reflect on your failures

Review your past resolutions to check what went wrong and what was right. Think about all the specific goals you created and the time scale you set. Was it too far-fetched? How long were you able to sustain it for? Were there results? What made you give up on them? These are some of the questions you should ask yourself.

Break it down
Take one of the most common resolutions as an example: Losing weight. There is nothing specific here. How much weight do you want to lose and by when? It will be simpler to achieve if you break things down. Think about short-term goals like losing 5 kgs in 2 months, and it will be easier to achieve.

Ensure your resolutions are not too far-fetched
Cutting back on things or starting a new habit is, of course, going to be difficult at first, so ensure your resolution is doable in the first place. With goals like "lose 5 kg in 15 days" is of course not going to be easy to achieve and will leave you demotivated.

Cut back from dreaming about the result

Positive thinking and imagining the end result of following your resolution does indeed work well. But many times, it leads to wasting time. Instead of wondering how you will look once you shed those extra 5 kgs, hit the treadmill and work towards losing it? Let less dreaming, more doing be your mantra for the future.

Don't beat yourself up
If at all even at the end of all of this you don't succeed, you should not beat yourself up. Just because you didn't fulfil one resolution, your world is not over. Instead, console yourself the way you would to a friend who has not managed to fulfil what they want. Instead, think about what you have achieved and how far you have come.

Do it again
If you have failed once, there is no harm in trying again. It is important to be consistent for a new habit to form and become a routine. Keep trying till you succeed.
