Do you burn with anger every time something doesn’t go your way? Anger has a way of getting to you. It makes you fume and burst out. If anger outbursts are a common part of your life, it’s important that you learn how to handle it too. Too much anger can harm your relationships and hamper your growth in life. It can damage your career and everything that comes with it. You cannot deal with everything by yelling and screaming. Anger does not solve problems. It’s normal to be frustrated and irritated but that does not excuse your behavior. It’s essential that you learn to keep your cool and manage your anger. Don’t let it blow your lid off. Sometimes your anger may blow things out of proportion and make everything worse for you. But keeping your cool isn’t easy either because every time someone asks you to calm down, it makes you want to scream your head off. So, how do you stay calm when your temper is flaring? Here are some tips to stay calm.

1. Remove yourself from the situation well in time. You know your anger and you know your triggers. When you feel the anger bubbling just take a step back and rethink. Focus on your breath and let the anger go.

2. Try relaxation techniques. Learn what calms you down and helps you remain calm. Maybe seeing your partner smile could calm you down or it could be that puppy or kitten that hangs out near your building. If the sound of some chants or music can help you, take hat help and blow off the steam.

3. Keep your anger in check. Remind yourself to not lose you cool. If your anger gets out of hand, hold your tongue and check yourself before you react. Don’t take decisions in anger.

4. Don’t hold onto your anger. Don’t stick to the decisions you take in anger. Don’t let anger rule your life. If anger takes over your life, it will only cause damage and nothing good will come out of it. Take a deep breath and let it go.

5. If things get out of hand to get help, conquer your anger before things take a turn for worse. There’s nothing wrong with getting professional help.
