8 reasons why Vampire Diaries is every romantic’s go-to series

Dear Diary,

It has been a pretty long time ever since the Vampire Diaries ended earlier this year and the reason I’m saying “pretty long”, is because we all know that it is well, not coming back. The Vampire Diaries was not just a show but an emotion and a major high which kept the audiences hooked onto their screens for a good eight years. Because when Damon cried we know we silently soaked our pillows in tears too and that when Elena broke Stefan’s heart, something inside us broke too; that when Klaus flirted with Caroline, we secretly blushed unapologetically and when Elena switched off her humanity, we became a little heartless too. This drama series was a huge part and companion of us growing up and every 90’s kid would swear by it. Listed below are the EIGHT reasons why Vampire Diaries is etched in our books of the most iconic T.V. shows and why it is our go-to for undying romance.

1.Passionate Love Triangle

Elena Gilbert and the two hottest ever Salvatore brothers - Damon & Stefan. A choice that was not only difficult for Elena but also for the viewers who were either staunch Delena shippers or Stelena or kept switching sides with every plot twist.

A full-blown perfect fairytale romance between Elena and Stefan or the impassioned, fierce and consuming love between Damon and Elena, we all knew for a fact that this girl was the luckiest person to have ever been born on this planet where she was loved without a bound by two of the most gorgeous and good-looking men.

2. A super good looking ensemble

And every fan will blindly agree that The Vampire Diaries had one of the most good-looking casts EVER! Be it Elena’s brother, Jeremy, as the cute trying to take on the world guy or Klaus, the remorseless stunning villain. Alaric as the hot guardian or Caroline as the perfect chic friend, the Vampire Diaries cast was one to die for and a blessing to our eyes.

3. Soundtrack

One of the biggest reasons for watching this show was because of its extraordinarily soulful and peppy music. Be it the soothing, heartbreaking songs like, Never Say Never by The Fray, Down by Jason Walker or I’ll breathe again by Sara Bareilles or the peppy fun numbers like, Close to You by Calvin Harris or Royals by Lorde, the list is endless and is definitely going to make it to your favourite’s list.

4. Dialogues

The biggest highlight of the show has to be the deep, intense, fun and quirky dialogues and yes, Damon’s comebacks. Let’s take you through some of the best dialogues from TVD’s favourites characters.

5. Doppelganger

The Vampire Diaries deeply rooted the whole feeling and effect of the “doppelganger” in our hearts making us believe that they do indeed exist. Kudos to Nina Dobrev for playing four characters throughout the series and playing it out so convincingly that we actually thought that there were four different actors playing that part. Stefan as Silas was also equally interesting and the whole concept of doppelgangers ending up together as well, #TeamStelena.

6. Unpredictable Plot Twists

The Vampire Diaries undoubtedly kept us on the edge of our seats throughout the season especially the finale. Be it Katherine chopping of John’s fingers, Bonnie trading her life for Jeremy or Elena bring sired to Damon, the entire plot twists kept us wondering what would happen next and if there was a legit “cure” (another TVD major) or escape.

7. Relationships & Friendships

The entire show was based on saving the loved ones, saving the family, people we love and the show did complete justice to it too. Be it Bonnie throwing herself in danger multiple times to Stefan eventually giving up his life, the show was all about living for the other and the undying love that kept them going.

8. Salvatore Brothers

The list cannot end without a special mention to probably the hottest pair of brothers ever. Be it the dapper charm of Stefan (Paul Wesley) or the seductive desirability of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) #HeavyBreathing. The alluring duo effortlessly charmed the female crowd with their brother bonding and their ever-changing love-hate relationship and do we even have to mention about the suited up Salvatores? One glimpse of them together with their bittersweet banter and we already have our hearts melting.

A rage in every sense, Vampire Diaries had us connecting with all of their characters, emotions and situations. A journey of eight seasons and an etched memory of a lifetime that consumed us as Damon would have liked it. #VampireDiariesForever
