10 Things you can do to comfort you best friend after a breakup

We've all had our shares of breakups and heartbreaks. The feeling of someone reaching between your ribs, pulling out your heart and stomping on it with so much hateful gusto is extremely painful. Going into hiding in an emotional fort made of pillows and bed sheets and crying 24/7 is what usually follows after a heartbreak. But do you know the miraculous difference a supportive, comforting and a genuinely caring friend can make?

If your bestie is going through a break-up, know this your presence is invaluable. Break-ups are hard to cope with by yourself, which is why you need to be there for your brokenhearted BFF. You might not be able to solve her relationship problems, but you can always help to make it easy and less painful by just listening to them or by eating bad for you snacks with them. Take note of these ten things you can do to make their miserable time way more bearable.

Visiting a pet store together

A tiny fluff ball of a kitten or a bubbly pupper will guarantee smiles all around, even if it’s just for fifteen minutes. This will distract them for at least a short while.

Plan a day trip

Figure out a place neither of you have been to. Map out everywhere you want to go, everything you want to see, and all the restaurants you want to try out. Having something to look forward to is an awesome way to combat those break-up blues and will serve as a fun distraction.

Sleepover and a giant pizza

Pretend that you are in high school once again with all those amazing toppings and relish on the best comfort food sitting on the floor while you read ghost stories aloud, flip through magazines, or just spend quality time talking.

Take them to park

There is no age limit to go on swings or hang off monkey bars. Plan a carefree day by hitting up the playground and helping her feel like a kid again.

Buy a box of assorted chocolates

This is a fun thing to do with your gal who is getting over a breakup to be honest. As it turns out, chocolate does amazing things for your body. Get a giant box of assorted chocolates and try out every single one of them during dinner. This subtly urges you friend to take risks and to move from their comfort zone. They are plenty of fishes in the sea!!

Let her seethe, sob and wallow

Don't tell her to stop crying. Let her rant as much as she wants about everything that went wrong. Let her do most of the talking because you don’t know if that’s what she wants to hear right now, or if they’ll even stay broken up. It means so relieving to vocalise your feelings, so let them do it and get over with it.

Watch a few motivating comedy flicks together

Movies about female protagonists who lose their jobs, get into accidents, or have to move back in with their parents only to overcome their fears, self-doubt, and struggles are the best type of movies your girl need to watch while feeling you’re down and drained.

Signing her up for dance lessons

One of the best ways to forget about someone and get over a tough time is to replace them with a new, healthy obsession that involves movement. A hip-hop class or a Zumba class can provide them with a lot of positive vibes, elevates her mood, and makes her feel good about herself is the way to go.

Take her out for a spa

Book a spa for the two of you at a spa retreat for the day. It will relax the muscles and calm them down beyond imagination. Or you can totally do DIY spa at home with those Epsom salts, nail polishes, recipes for the perfect facial mask, etc.

Tell her how amazing she is

Most importantly remind your BFF how special and amazing they are even though she's going through some horrible time. Remind her she’s going to make it because she’s strong and incredible. Don’t let her forget that about herself.
