Weekend Weight Loss Tips: Here's how you can get in shape during the WEEKEND

Unwinding on the weekends is what all of us deserve. But, sometimes it is difficult to keep in check and we end up completely ignoring our diets and exercise routines. Innocent activities such as going for a movie, shopping or a binge watch session can undo all your hard work! In fact, research shows that one is more likely to consume 115 extra calories than usual over the weekend. That means by the end of the year, you could be weighing 4kg more!

Fortunately, it is possible to avoid the most common dietary traps that you are most likely to fall into. With right advice and conscious decision making you can stay away from those extra calories and wake up on Monday feeling fitter. Although the weekend diet will not slim you down magically, it will definitely help you watch your weight. Read on to find out how you can have a  gala time on the weekends without feeling guilty later!

1. Choose your Friday drinks wisely

All of us overdo during happy hours and it's time to stop! Instead of drinking beers or sugary cocktails such as daiquiri or mai tai, go for something tarty such as a bloody mary. Also stay away from bar snacks which are loaded with unwanted calories. Instead order a protein based appetizer with your drink to watch your calorie intake!

2. Movie treats are a strict no-no

Going to the movies during the weekends is something most of us love to do. But, a large tub of popcorn and a can of soda means 1600 calories at a go! A simple movie treat can turn out to be a disaster for your weight loss progress. Bring your own snacks such as dark chocolate, unsalted peanuts or homemade non-buttered popcorn to avoid movie munchies!

3. Head outdoors

Don’t like going to the gym on the weekends? No worries. There are tons of fun outdoor activities that you can do on the weekend. These are great workout ideas which are also a lot of fun. Shake up your regular exercise routine with a game of volleyball or a refreshing swim!

4. Turn dine nights into diet nights

No, it’s not as disheartening as it sounds! Dining out doesn’t have to be a calorie rich experience. Read the menu carefully and order dishes that are braised, baked, boiled or grilled. If you want to indulge in calorie rich food, share it with a buddy so that you don’t end up consuming all the calories on your own!
