Thus, here are a few early symptoms of type 2 diabetes that you should keep an eye out for.

1. Increased urination and thirst

When blood sugar levels are abnormally high, the kidneys try to remove the excess sugar by filtering it out of the blood. This results in a person needing to urinate more frequently, especially at night. Urinating frequently leads to the body losing water. This may cause dehydration and cause a person to feel unusually thirsty.

2. Always feeling hungry

The digestive system breaks food down into a simple sugar called glucose, which the body uses as fuel. But, for type 2 diabetes patients, not enough of this glucose moves from the bloodstream into the body's cells. Thus, they feel constantly hungry, regardless of how recently they have eaten.

3. Cuts and wounds take a long time to heal

High levels of sugar in the blood can damage the body's nerves and blood vessels, resulting in the impairment of blood circulation. Therefore, even small cuts and wounds may take weeks to heal. The risk of infection is increased with slow wound healing.

4. Blurry vision

An excess of sugar in the blood can damage the blood vessels in the eyes, which causes blurry vision. Patients might experience a sudden blurriness in vision. If a person with diabetes doesn’t seek treatment, the damage to these blood vessels can become more severe and lead to permanent loss of vision.
